South Ormsby estate has an exciting opportunity for a Self-EmployedMarket Gardener to join the team.

Location: South Ormsby, Lincolnshire

Salary: TBC – plus subsidised accommodation

The village of South Ormsby is an estate of c3000 acres nestled within the Lincolnshire Wolds and is an area of outstanding natural beauty, rich in wildlife. The custodians of the South Ormsby Estate are restoring the heritage of the estate and rejuvenating the local economy. Building upon a historic past, their vision is to create the best place to invest, work, live, play and retire to and the best farming estate in the world!

We have a very exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and passionate Self-Employed Market Gardener to add value to our existing businesses by setting up and running a market garden on one acre of land.

We will provide all the equipment to get the successful candidate up and running including accommodation in a shared house for three months free of charge. 

When the business is established, there will be an option of renting one of our properties close by.

Market Gardener – Key Responsibilities:

- Prepare the land

- Seed

- Maintaining the ground

- Harvest the products

- Keeping up to date records of tasks

- Marketing and selling the produce

- To produce annual growing plans

- To produce a marketing plan

- To produce a training plan for future potential staff

- Contribute with your own project funds

- To be fully organic

Market Gardener – You:

- Experience of garden tools

- Aware of safety on the Estate

- Interest in horticulture

- Ability to manage a varied workload

- Able to work quickly and efficiently under time pressure

- Ability to work outside in all weathers

- Shows attention to detail in all aspects of their work and a commitment to excellence in all areas

- Self-motivated, respectful, sociable, organised, trustworthy and punctual

- A love of the land and a passion to work with nature

What we will provide:

- Subsidised accommodation (including the first 3 months free!)

- Help with infrastructure (to include but not limited to polytunnel/water/electric)

- Help subsidise the project in year one
